Cedar Smith, 20, of Las Vegas, was arrested for mail theft and drug paraphernalia near Central Park on Bouquet Canyon Road at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.

“Deputies were conducting a nighttime burglary suppression operation on Saturday night into Sunday morning,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Station. “They rode in unmarked cars, looking for any suspicious activity.”

The suspect was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and mail that did not belong to her in a backpack she was carrying.

“These nighttime burglary suppression operations are being conducted as a proactive response to the increase in property crimes that SCV has recently experienced,” said Miller.

Deputies also made contact with a man that they saw peering into car windows in the Sierra Highway and Soledad Canyon Road area of Canyon Country.

“Some of the individuals that we made contact with throughout the night were determined to be on parole or on probation,” said Miller. “Although they were not caught committing a crime, it is our hope that by our proactive presence, we might have prevented some crimes that night.”
