Vehicles are being broken into and windows are being “busted out,” according to Joseph Kelley, who lives in the Canyon Villas Senior Apartments community,
Sheriff’s Station deputies are investigating the reports and have not made an arrest, yet, said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
There have been six cases of vandalism reported over the past week, officials said.
“I saw another broken vehicle window when I left for work (Thursday) morning,” Kelley stated in an email. “I have resulted in parking 2-3 miles away in a secure location to avoid being victimized… my vehicle is a soft top and easy target.”
Sheriff’s deputies would like to remind Santa Clarita Valley residents to remember to close and lock your doors, and never leave valuables in plain view in your vehicle, according to a Nixle news release.
Minimize your risk and avoid being the victim of a crime of opportunity.
