Two stranded hikers and their dog were found and rescued in a Castaic Mountain area after being overcome by the heat on Saturday where the temperatures went into the 100’s.

Canyon Country East

A residential burglary occurred near the 17900 block of Nearbrook Street. The suspect forced entry into the victim’s locked residence through a rear bedroom window. Nothing appeared to have been stolen.

A petty theft occurred near the 16500 block of Soledad Canyon Road. The victim forgot her cell phone and left it in the store checkout area.  The store manager reviewed store video surveillance footage and observed one suspect steal the victim’s cell phone.

A petty theft occurred near the 19100 block of Golden Valley Road. The victim left her cell phone inside a restroom at the location.  The victim returned seconds later and discovered the restroom door was locked.  The victim waited for the occupant to exit and inquired if she had seen her cell phone. The woman told her she had not seen the phone.  The victim entered the restroom and discovered her cell phone had been stolen.

Another petty theft occurred near the 19100 block of Golden Valley Road.  Three suspects were seen taking display items and conducting fraudulent returns.

A grand theft occurred near the 27900 block of Solamint Road. Suspect(s) unknown stole the victim’s vehicle.

A grand theft occurred near Jakes Way  and the 14 Freeway. Suspect(s) unknown stole the victim’s vehicle which was parked in front of the indicated location.  The vehicle was later located in LAPD Mission Division’s area. It was damaged and stripped.

A grand theft occurred near the 18400 block of Oak Canyon Road. Suspect(s) unknown stole the victim’s vehicle while parked in front of the indicated location.

Canyon Country West

A residential burglary occurred near the 18800 block of Vista Del Canon.  Person(s) unknown forced entry through the victim’s living room window and stole property from within.

A commercial burglary occurred near the 26900 block of Flo Lane.  Person(s) unknown made entry into the victim’s detached garage by means unknown and stole two kitchen appliances from within.

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 20500 block of Soledad Canyon Road.  The victim spotted the suspect rummaging through his vehicle while parked near the location.  He called the police and the suspect was arrested for vehicle burglary.

A shoplifting occurred near the 26400 block of Carl Boyer Drive.  One suspect was arrested for taking store items and making no attempt to pay for the items.

Castaic and Val Verde

An arson was reported from the 31000 block of Castaic Road.  A late model Ford caught fire while parked at the location.  The Fire Department extinguished the fire and noticed evidence of possible arson.  Responding deputies notified the Arson/Explosive unit for further investigation.

A petty theft was reported from the 31000 block of Castaic Road.  The victim reported his red “Spitfire” medical scooter was stolen from the parking lot of his workplace. The scooter was stolen on 08/12/15 between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 pm.      

Newhall

Between Saturday, 08/15/15 at 6:45 p.m., and Sunday, 08/16/15 at 12:30 a.m., an apartment was burglarized in the 21200 block of Ficus Drive.  There was a window broken, but it may not have been how entry was made.  Several electronic and personal items were stolen.

On Saturday, 08/15/15, a vehicle burglary was reported in the 25000 block of Peachland Avenue.  Report information was not available at this time.

Between Wednesday, 08/12/15, and Thursday, 08/13/15, a suitcase that had been left in a shopping cart was stolen in the 23500 block of Wiley Canyon.

On Thursday, 08/13/15 at 2:00 p.m., a male and a female took approximately 8 boxes of candy bars from a business in the 23500 block of Lyons Avenue.   

There were five adults arrested in the Newhall area last week.  One arrest was for assault, one for an illegal weapon, two for narcotics charges, and one for DUI.   

Saugus

Between Saturday, 08/15/15 at 6:45 p.m., and Sunday, 08/16/15 at 12:30 a.m., an apartment was burglarized in the 21200 block of Ficus Drive.  There was a window broken, but it may not have been how entry was made.  Several electronic and personal items were stolen.

Stevenson Ranch

Valencia  

A burglary occurred near the 23900 block of Del Monte Drive. An unknown suspect broke into the victim’s residence while he was away. When he returned, he saw his rear sliding door was shattered and the inside of his residence had been ransacked.  A few high dollar items were left behind, but a small amount of cash was stolen from the location.

A burglary occurred near the 28300 block of Constellation Road.  An unknown suspect entered the location by cutting the lock and removing over 63 exit signs. The signs are valued at $24,000.    

A burglary occurred near the 23800 block of Arroyo Park Drive. An unknown suspect entered the location through a locked kitchen window and stole two jewelry items from inside the victim’s jewelry box.  

A burglary (other structure) occurred near the 27900 block of Smyth Drive.  An unknown suspect entered a locked storage area by cutting off the lock and placing the items into a white truck. The items stolen were 55 gallon drums used to hold scrap brass and copper.

A vehicle theft occurred near the 23600 block of Del Monte Drive. The victim stated her son stole her vehicle from her residence while she was at the location. The suspect also took her laptop. The suspect did not have permission to take the vehicle.   

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 24500 block of Town Center Drive. The victim parked his car overnight at the location.  When he returned to his vehicle in the morning, he noticed the 3rd row seat to his vehicle was missing and his back door was pried open.  The victim’s vehicle was a 2012 Chevy Suburban.

A petty theft occurred near the 26400 block of Bouquet Canyon Road. While the victim was inside a restaurant, the victim’s brother saw an unknown male get on the victim’s bike and ride out of the area.

A petty theft occurred near the 24000 block of Creekside Road. An unknown suspect siphoned approximately 20 gallons of gas from the victim’s vehicle.  The victim stated he parks his truck in his parking lot in an unsecured area. His vehicle did not not have a locking gas cap.

A mail theft occurred near the 27100 block of Highlands Lane.  An unknown suspect stole two packages from his porch.  The items were confirmed as delivered by USPS.
