The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Enforcement Bureau were called in to assist on the service of a search warrant in the early morning hours Thursday, on the 27400 block of Plumwood Avenue, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.

Carl Pruett, 57, of Canyon Country, was taken into custody this morning after a brief standoff.

The early morning incident allegedly sprung from a fight the previous evening. Deputies suspected the individual in custody might have been involved in an argument the evening before in which a shotgun was pulled on a neighbor.

The suspect barricaded himself inside his residence and is wanted for false imprisonment and assault with a deadly weapon.

Residents were evacuated from the surrounding areas. No one was injured in the incident.

The SEB Special Weapons Team has assumed command of the tactical response and brought a peaceful resolution by introducing chemical agents, at which point, the suspect surrendered to the Special Weapons Team without further incident.

The incident is still being investigated. The suspect’s identity was not released at this time. Nearby Canyon Springs Elementary School was closed down temporarily as a result of the police activity. It was re-opened as of 8:50 a.m.
