Ventura County Deputies Arrest Suspects After ‘Flash Mob’ Robbery

Ventura County Sheriff’s Department officials might have arrested six suspects who committed the March 29 “flash-mob” robbery in Santa Clarita. Lashay Denae Beasley, 21; Mercedes Denise Cannonier, 30; Chappell Lachell Turner, 22; Bianca Dreanne Woodson, 23; Nicole Simone Wigfall, 21; and Andera Danita Rose, 39, all of of San Francisco, were taken into custody around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday in Ventura for burglary, conspiracy, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools. “Deputies responded to the Tory Burch store in the Camarillo Premium Outlets for a burglary that had just occurred,” according to a Nixle release from statement from the Camarillo Police Department and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.

‘Halloween Trio’ Accused Of Murder Could Face Trial In June

A long-awaited Santa Clarita murder trial for three teen suspects accused of fatally shooting a man during an alleged Halloween robbery in 2011 could see jury selection in June, an official said Thursday. The “Halloween trio,” Diamonte Jerome McGhee, 20, Branden Trevaughn Higgis, 19, and Eric Michael Edwards, 19, were all under 18 when they were arrested on charges they were involved in the death of Alex Sanchez and wounded Ricardo Sandoval during a robbery gone awry Oct. 21, 2011. “We expect (jury selection) to start June 23 or June 24,” said Brad Lieberman, the deputy district attorney in charge of the case’s prosecution. The defendants have a June 16 court date, but that’s a pretrial conference for the attorneys, officials said.

Santa Clarita Valley Murder, Attempted Murder Cases Have Court Dates

There are trial updates for several Santa Clarita Valley court cases in the news this week, according to officials with the District Attorney’s Office. The cases for a woman accused of fatally shooting a former Hart district special education assistant, a man accused of stabbing his son and a man accused of murdering his neighbor after an argument were all in court this week.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Officials Host Coffee With The Captain

Santa Clarita residents took an opportunity to meet with Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Capt. Roosevelt Johnson and Deputy Jonathan Wilson on Wednesday for Coffee with the Captain. Coffee with the Captain is a series of meetings Johnson is holding throughout the community as he begins his new role as captain of the station. Johnson took the helm of the Sheriff’s Station in March, and said he was planning to hold the informal meetings in all eight of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station crime zones. The next meeting will be held at It's A Grind on Tuesday, April 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Santa Clarita Spousal Assault Report Leads To Grenade, Suspect Search

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a domestic violence call resulting in deputies finding a grenade and conducting an hours-long search Monday night. Deputies responded to a report of a spousal assault on the 17300 block of Sarita Avenue, in Canyon Country, around 5:30 p.m. The suspect allegedly hit his girlfriend, who is nine months pregnant, and then apparently fled the scene. When deputies responded, they had information leading them to believe the suspect might still be on the premises, so an aerial unit was called, as well as a K-9 unit to search for the suspect.

Santa Clarita Valley Deputies Makes Arrest On Robbery, Assault Charges

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies received a call from a Santa Clarita business office that led to a felony arrest Saturday, officials said. Sean Nagle, 45, of Valencia, was booked on assault with a deadly weapon and an attempted robbery charge, after employees said he tried to steal the keys to their business by force on the 25300 block of Magic Mountain Parkway, near Tourney Road, in Santa Clarita. Sheriff’s Station officials commended the informants in the incident for immediately contacting the Sheriff’s Station after becoming concerned.
