Sheriff’s Crime Reports Include Assault, Grand Theft Auto

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a report of a dead body found in the Santa Clara River wash in Canyon Santa Clarita NewsCountry, officials said Friday.
A Santa Clarita Valley resident’s tip led to Sheriff’s Station deputies arresting three for an alleged Val Verde chop shop, officials said Wednesday.
Los Angeles County supervisors approved funding for a total of four deputies for unincorporated parts of the Santa Clarita Valley over the next two years, officials said Wednesday.

Crime Reports

KHTS publishes crime reports in alphabetical order by community as they are made available.

Here are the crime reports for Canyon Country East, Castaic/ Val Verde, Saugus and Stevenson Ranch.

Canyon Country East

There were several grand theft autos reported in Zone 8 last week.  The first incident occurred near the 28900 Flowerpark Dr. The victims 1997 Honda Accord was stolen from the location.

A victim had his 1993 Honda Del Sol stolen from 19105 Golden Valley Rd. in the Target parking lot.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a report of a body found in the Santa Clara River wash in Canyon Country, officials said Friday.A 2001 GMC Sierra truck was stolen from Jakes Way/Palo Verde Place.  A 1993 Ford Econoline E250 van was stolen from Sierra Highway and American Beauty Drive.  None of these vehicles have been recovered.

A 2014 Jeep Compass was reported stolen at Soledad Canyon Rd./Flower Park Dr.  A short time later the vehicle was later involved in hit and run traffic collision on Sand Canyon Rd/Soledad Canyon Rd. This case is being investigated by Santa Clarita Station Detectives.

A residential burglary was reported near the 17700 block of Danielson St.  The suspect was seen cutting a slit into the downstairs bedroom window screen and entering the apartment. The suspect was able to flee prior to deputies arriving to the location. Nothing was taken.

Canyon Country West

A residential burglary occurred near the 19000 block of Saddleback Ridge Rd.  While the victim was in her living room talking on the phone, person(s) unknown smashed her bedroom window and made entry into her home.  While inside the suspect stole numerous items from within her bedroom.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A grand theft auto occurred near the 27100 block of Hidaway Ave.  Person(s) unknown stole the victims vehicle which was parked in parking stall near the above address.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A burglary to a vehicle occurred near the 27100 block of Sierra Hwy.  Person(s) unknown forced entry into the victims rented moving van and stole numerous items from within. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A shoplifting occurred near the 18600 block of Via Princessa.  One suspect was arrested for stealing store items.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Castaic/Val Verde

An assault with a deadly weapon was reported from the 30000 block of San Martinez Rd.  Several male suspects confronted two males in the street.  After words were exchanged the suspects exited their vehicle and assaulted the two victims in the street.  A witness to the incident said one of the suspects hit one of the victims with a glass bottle.  The victim sustained small lacerations around his mouth.  Based on statements made by both parties the handling deputy believes the incident was gang related.

A vehicle theft was reported from the 29000 block of Saguaro St.  An orange Infinity G35 was stolen from the location around 11:25 a.m.  Dec. 4.

A stolen vehicle was recovered mid-block of San Martinez Road by deputies patrolling the area.  The vehicle was returned the owner and the suspect was taken into custody.

Saugus

There were three crimes reported in the 28000 block of Cero Dr. in the early morning hours of Dec. 4.

The first was a residential burglary where the victim had his garage door opener stolen from his unlocked vehicle.

The suspects opened the victim’s garage and stole numerous electrical items.  The other two crimes were thefts from unlocked vehicles.  Both victims discovered items missing from their unlocked vehicles overnight.  Santa Clarita detectives are working on all three related incidents.

A commercial burglary was reported in the 28100 block of Wellston Dr. between Nov. 26 and Dec. 1.  Employees at the location discovered a window had been pried open and entry was made.  It has yet to been determined if anything was taken.

Stevenson Ranch

A grand theft occurred at a business in the 24900 block of The Old Rd. Unknown suspect(s) stole a Gibson “Hummingbird Pro” Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station officials have released the crime reports for the week of Dec. 1-7. Guitar valued at over $2,000.00 from the business.

A grand theft occurred from a stored boat in the 27900 block of Henry Mayo Dr. Unknown suspect(s) stole the victim’s boat cover, high end fishing rods, a 31 volt trolling motor and miscellaneous high end specialized fishing clothing.

A burglary to a vehicle occurred in the 25200 block of The Old Rd. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger side window of the vehicle and stole the victim’s purse, diaper bag and iPhone 4S.

Two shoplifting incidents occurred in the 25400 block of The Old Rd. A Bakersfield resident was taken into custody by deputy personnel. Incident to arrest, a search of the suspect’s property revealed he was in possession of a controlled substance, and was subsequently ad-charged. During the second incident, a Bakersfield resident was also taken into custody by deputy personnel.
