Sheriff’s Crime Reports Include Drug Arrests, Sex Offenders, School Burglary

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials have released the crime reports for the week of July 21 through 27.

Reports included drug arrests, coroners identified a man believed to be murdered and the Hollywood screenwriter of “Snakes on a Plane” was arrested on burglary charges.

While coroners are still working to determine the cause of death, a Los Angeles man believed to have been murdered and then dumped in Gorman was identified by Sheriff’s Department officials Monday. Santa Clarita Sheriff's Crime Reports Include Drug Arrests, Sex Offenders, School Burglary

A Hollywood screenwriter credited with “Snakes on a Plane” was arrested Monday night in Canyon Country on a burglary charge at a Walmart in Santa Clarita, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies made two drug-related arrests Monday night — one in Castaic and another in Canyon Country, officials said.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives are investigating a July 22 report of vandalism and burglary at Pinetree Community Elementary School, officials said Wednesday.

Trial went underway Wednesday in the case of a Valencia man facing life due to child annoyance charges. The Valencia sex offender facing the possibility of life in prison if convicted took a last-minute plea deal, the prosecutor said Thursday.

Crime Reports

KHTS publishes crime reports in alphabetical order by community as they are made available.

Here are the crime reports for Canyon Country East, Canyon Country West Newhall, Saugus, Stevenson Ranch/ Westridge and Valencia.

Canyon Country East

A robbery occurred near Sierra Hwy/Sand Canyon Road. Four males approached the victim near an apartment complex and assaulted the victim. The suspects robbed the victim of his cell phone and wallet.

A rape occurred at a business near the 18000 block of Sierra Hwy. The victim and suspect went to the back of the business and the suspect sexually assaulted the victim. The victim was able to push away from the suspect and get away from suspect. The suspect was later arrested.

A grand theft occurred neat the 29000 block of Mammoth Lane. The incident occurred between 03/14/14-07/11/14. The suspect stole 6 necklaces worth $15,000.00. The victim had a company in his house fixing water damage over the listed time frame.

A residential burglary occurred near the 29000 Sequoia Rd. The suspects broke the front window to make entry into the house. Suspects stole tax returns and several handguns from the location.

There was a burglary reported at “Pine Tree Elementary School”. The thieves broke into the administration building and stole several iPads and school supplies. This incident is being investigated by Santa Clarita Station COBRA detectives.

A residential burglary occurred near the 17000 block of Dove Willow St. A male black suspect pried open a kitchen window and made entry. The suspect stole a wedding ring. The home owner confronted the suspect. The suspect threw keys at victim and ran from location.

Canyon Country West

An aggravated assault occurred near the 18500 block of Soledad Canyon Road. Two family members got into a verbal argument that quickly turned physical. One family member punched the other in the face causing injury. The suspect was arrested at the scene. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 19200 block of Via Princessa. The suspect was spotted by a witness rummaging through a parked vehicle. The witness called the police, who quickly responded and arrested the suspect for burglary. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A grand theft auto occurred near the 19300 block of Soledad Canyon Road. While the victim was filling up a water jug at a nearby business, a named suspect entered the victims vehicle and drove off in an unknown direction. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Newhall

Santa Clarita Sheriff's Crime Reports Include Drug Arrests, Sex Offenders, School BurglaryBetween Thursday the 24th at 7:00 p.m., and Friday the 25th 12:00 p.m., a generator was stolen from an open carport in the 22800 block of 15th Street.

A 2002 “Toyota” Camry was stolen from the 23700 block of Via Canon on Saturday the 26th, between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. The vehicle has a “Loyola Marymount” sticker in the rear window and has not been recovered yet.

A woman’s purse was stolen from a backpack in the area of Market Street and Arch Street on Thursday the 24th. The backpack had been left unattended outside an apartment for approximately 6 hours.

A woman’s purse was stolen from a restroom after it was left unattended for approximately 45 minutes in a business in the 24500 block of Main Street.

Saugus

There were two residential burglaries reported over the past week. The first was in the 27900 block of Caraway Lane on July 25th. The victim discovered his garage had been burglarized and tools were stolen. The second burglary occurred in the 28100 block of Seco Canyon Road between July 26th and 27th. The victim discovered his home had been burglarized and miscellaneous items had been taken. It is possible that the front window had been left unlocked prior to the burglary. Detectives are working both incidents.

An assault occurred in the 22300 block of Los Tigres on July 26th. The victim was assaulted by her boyfriend during an argument. Deputies responded and arrested the suspect without incident.

Stevenson Ranch / Westridge

An incident of domestic violence occurred near the 26300 block of Beecher Lane. A male suspect was arrested after assaulting his wife. The case is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley detectives.

An attempt residential burglary occurred near the 25500 block of Chisom Lane. The victim scared a black male and black female suspect out of his back yard after they knocked on the front door several times. The suspects fled to a newer, black, 4-door luxury vehicle and drove away out of view.

This is the second incident with the same suspects and vehicle in the Stevenson Ranch area. If you see a vehicle matching the above description or any other suspicious vehicle/people, please call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station immediately.

An attempt burglary occurred near the 26100 block of Salinger Lane. An unknown suspect attempted to pry open rear doors and windows to the residence. The suspect was unable to gain entry.

A residential burglary occurred near the 26100 block of Singer Place. A male suspect ran out of the victim’s residence when she returned home. The suspect fled the location in a silver Nissan Frontier. The suspect’s vehicle was located after excellent follow up investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station patrol deputies/detectives and the suspect was subsequently arrested.

A 2013 Honda CBR 600RR motorcycle was taken from the parking lot near the 25300 block of The Old Road.

A possible arson occurred near the northbound 5 Freeway and Calgrove Boulevard. Approximately one acre of the Angeles National Forest was burned and burnt foil was found near several of the ignition points.

Valencia

A grand theft occurred near the 28200 block of Constellation Road. Two unknown suspects parked behind the location and removed a copper coil from a refrigerator that was left out overnight due to repairs. This case is currently under active investigation.

We had three shoplifting burglaries occur near the 26400 block of Town Center Drive. In all three cases the suspects were arrested by Santa Clarita Valley patrol deputies. These cases are currently under active investigation.

As a reminder, please do not leave valuables in plain view in your vehicles. Many incidents can be avoided if you take the time to ensure your vehicles are secure and your property is properly stored. Always double check your windows and doors at night before going to bed. As the weather gets hotter and you travel with your pets, please remember to never leave your animal unattended in your vehicle in this hot weather. It can become extremely dangerous and deadly. Always remember your safety is number one, and keeping your family safe is my number one priority.
