Sheriff’s Deputies Release Crime Reports Includes Kidnapping, Burglary

Sheriff’s Department officials release preliminary crime statistics for 2014, showing a 6 percent decline in reported part-I crime in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Crime Reports

KHTS publishes crime reports in alphabetical order by community as they are made available.

Here are the crime reports for Canyon Country West, Castaic/ Val Verde, Newhall, Saugus, Stevenson Ranch and Valencia.

Canyon Country East

A vehicle burglary was reported near the 27100 block of Silver Oak Lane. The suspect shattered the rear passenger window of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect gained access to the vehicle’s engine compartment and stole the BMW’s spark plugs. A similar incident was reported from Jakes Way/Sandy Drive. The suspect shattered the rear window of a BMW.  The suspect then gained access to the vehicles engine compartment where he/she stole the vehicles spark plugs.

A vehicle burglary was reported from Jason Drive/Via Princessa. The suspect shattered the front passenger side window and stole the victim’s passport, vehicle registration and the victim’s driver’s license.

Santa Clarita NewsA shoplifting incident occurred at the “Boot Barn” on Soledad Canyon Road. Three males entered the store and stole boots.

A shoplifting incident occurred from Target.  The suspect took a Sony PS4 into the female dressing room and removed it from its packaging.  The victim concealed the item and left the location without paying for the console.

A grand theft occurred near the 28600 block of Oak Springs Canyon Road. The suspect stole the victim’s generator that was attached to her trailer. The generator is a Honda EU6500.

A residential burglary was reported from 27500 block of Sierra Highway.  The victim came home and found her front door unlocked.  The victim said that nearly $800 in cash was stolen along with a $100 gift card to Jixiang Massage.

A garage burglary was reported near the 18000 block of Annes Circle.  The suspect entered the victim’s unlocked garage and stole 2 bicycles.

Canyon Country West

An arson occurred near the 26800 block of Sierra Highway.  A vehicle was found completely burnt near the above location.  The incident was determined to be an arson by detectives.  This incident is currently under investigation by Los Angeles County Arson Explosives detectives.

A grand theft auto occurred near the 27500 block of Bernina Avenue.  The victims vehicle was taken while parked near the above location.  A short time later, the stolen vehicle was found parked near the 18800 block of Wellhaven Street.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A commercial burglary occurred near the 18200 block of Mandan Street.  Person(s) unknown pried open a community mailbox which belongs to a business near the above location.  During the time of the report, it is unknown if any mail was taken.This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A petty theft occurred near the 18900 block of Nearbrook Street.  Person(s) unknown stole the victims laptop computer from his living room.  According to the victim, numerous people have access to his residence, and there was no evidence of forced entry into the location. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Castaic/ Val Verde

A man accused in an allegedly violent Castaic home invasion pleaded not guilty at his preliminary arraignment Tuesday.

A domestic incident was reported from the 27000 block of Liverpool Court.  The victim reported her husband had hit her several times and then choked her during an argument.  The victim had redness and marks to her shoulder and neck.  Responding deputies arrested the husband for domestic violence.

kitchen window screen removed and the window frame damaged.  The responding deputy saw no signs that entry the house was made.  The victim reported nothing missing from the inside.

A theft of a dog was reported from the 29000 block of Liverpool Court.  The victim said she checked the backyard for her dog and it was gone.  The side gates to the yard were closed but were not locked.  The neighbor reported hearing people arguing from the front of the location during the time the dog went missing.  The victim believes someone stole her dog.  Newhall

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a report of a possible kidnapping in Newhall Thursday night.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a Santa Clarita kidnapping suspect Thursday who had 12 previous convictions, according to court records.

Saugus

Friends of a Santa Clarita man and his son critically injured in a crash near Central Park in Saugus are asking for help from the Santa Clarita community.

Stevenson Ranch

An attempted burglary incident occurred in the 25900 block of Burke Place. The front door knob lock to the residence was damaged. (The locking mechanism was removed from the door handle). Entry to the residence was not made.

A burglary occurred in the 26900 block of Redwood Bluff Lane. Unknown suspect(s) entered the residence via an unlocked side garage door. Taken was an iPad Air, an iPad2 and $400 in US Currency.

A vehicle burglary occurred in the 25400 block of The Old Road. Unknown person(s) broke the victim’s rear passenger side window and rummaged through the interior of the victim’s vehicle. There was no loss.

An additional vehicle burglary occurred in the 24900 block of Constitution Avenue. Unknown Campus Sexual Assaults Prompt Police To Warn UCLA, CSUN Studentssuspect(s) entered the victim’s locked vehicle, by unknown means, and stole the victim’s Louis Vuitton purse, iPad and California ID card.

A shoplifting incident occurred in the 26800 block of The Old Road. A Hispanic male, approximately 25 years of age entered the business and removed a secured cellular phone from the display case using an unknown type cutting tool. Security footage was recovered, and the incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarity Valley Station detectives.

A petty theft incident occurred in the 24900 block of Pico Canyon. The victim had his unattended iPhone6 stolen from inside his gym bag while he played basketball nearby.

An additional petty theft incident occurred in the 24900 block of Pico Canyon. The victim had his wallet stolen from his locked gym locker. There were no signs of force to the lock or locker.
