The incident was called in at 1 p.m. and deputies arrived shortly after that, Sheriff’s Station officials said. The Goodwill building was evacuated about 20 minutes after the initial call.Sheriff's Deputies Respond To Suspicious Object At Goodwill-1

Deputies evacuated the building on Pico Canyon Road and called in bomb squad officials, said Lt. Bill Moulder with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The object appeared to be hollow and had no pin in it, so if it is a grenade, it does not appear to be active,” Moulder said.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad officials are en route to the location.

Nobody was evacuated from surrounding businesses and Goodwill employees were authorized to re enter the store at about 2 p.m.

Goodwill employees declined to be interviewed.
