A high-speed pursuit that started in North Hollywood passed through Santa Clarita Wednesday before the suspect was caught in Palmdale.

The pursuit, which officials said exceeded 100 MPH at times, began in North Hollywood. The vehicle took off after an LAPD officer ran the car’s plates and discovered it had been involved in a carjacking.
The driver headed north, pursued by law enforcement from various agencies, including the California Highway Patrol. The suspect headed north and passed through Santa Clarita, drawing local officers into the chase, said Sgt. Zachery Emmons with the CHP.
“We put units in for the CHP in pursuit,” he said.

“Once they got up there,” Emmons said, “he was taken into (custody).”
NBC Los Angeles reported the driver allegedly threw a dog out of the vehicle as he turned into a Palmdale neighborhood, shortly before he was caught.
