Two suspects, a man and a woman, were shopping in the Valencia Target on July 2 around 6 p.m. and caught the attention of security for allegedly putting some of the items in the female suspects purse, officials said.

Security guards from the Target store confronted the two suspects as they exited the store, officials said. The female suspect got into a physical altercation with a security guard.

Both suspects were arrested, but the male suspect was released with a citation, while the female suspects charges were bumped up to robbery because of her actions against the security guard.

Robbery is defined as taking the property of another by means of force or fear.
