“We transported one patient to the hospital,” said Supervising Fire Dispatcher Bernard Peters. The incident took place shortly after 6 p.m. in the 19000 block of Stillmore Street in Canyon Country.

Deputies are still actively investigating the incident, said Sgt. Chris Mauriza with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“We do have a victim who was stabbed,” Mauriza said. “It’s still an ongoing situation.”

Investigators believe a minor was responsible for the stabbing, and the suspect is currently hiding.

“The suspect appears to be a juvenile,” said Lt. Chuck Becerra. “He’s not in custoday right now.”

Deputies are getting help from the suspect’s sister, who is trying to convince him to give up his location to law enforcement officials.

“It appears the suspect’s sister is trying to talk him into giving up from wherever he’s at,” Becerra said. “We thought he was originally at the appartment, but it turns out he’s not there.”

The suspect is not related to the victim, Becerra said, but did not elaborate on their relationship.

Officials said the victim is still alive at a local hospital as of 7:45 p.m.
