Two individuals were detained and released Monday morning after a “wrestling match” took place on the shoulder of the southbound 5 freeway near Lyons Avenue in Newhall, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.

Around 9:45 a.m., a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s captain noticed two individuals wrestling on the shoulder of the I-5 near a pick-up truck, officials said.
“I was on the southbound freeway going downtown and I saw a male had a female on the ground,” said Captain Darren Harris of the LASD Sheriff’s Information Bureau. “I turned around on the shoulder and, from a safe distance, yelled at the male to get on the ground.”
However, the male refused to cooperate with Harris’s orders and verbally berated the captain, even going so far as to challenge Harris to “shoot (him),” according to Sheriff’s officials.
When the male went back into the truck, the captain motioned for the female to come to him, he said.
The female also refused to comply, and was brought back into the truck by the male before the pair left the scene, Harris said.
Harris informed the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, telling deputies that the truck had a camper shell and was heading south on the I-5 freeway.
Santa Clarita deputies caught up with the truck on Roxford Street near the freeway, detained both occupants and released the two shortly afterward.
“They were not arrested,” said Lt. Doug Mohrhoff with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “No crime was committed.”
Officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station have not disclosed why the two were wrestling on the side of the road and were not charged.

Ok…So you can refuse to comply with an Officer’s orders and leave the scene and I guess that’s not a chargeable offense? wow….
I agree Wendy. A police officer who’s job is to keep us safe and maintain order in the community is brushed off by 2 uncooperative individuals who caused a scene that could have turned dangerous very easily. In the end they “did nothing”. What gives?!?!
