Christopher Flores, 21, and Edwardo Gabriel, 21, were arrested around 2 a.m. Oct. 12 after a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station patrol deputy on Sierra Highway conducted a traffic stop on a pick-up truck, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.

“The passenger, Flores, had a $35,000 warrant and was found to have a firearm on his person,” said Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

In addition to discovering that a fugitive from the law was reportedly carrying an unlicensed, unregistered and loaded concealed weapon, deputies reportedly found additional evidence in the vehicle linking the two suspects to another crime that had occurred in the Santa Clarita Valley.

“Deputies found a dozen tires and burglary tools in (the) vehicle,” said Miller. “It turns out the suspects had burglarized a business on the 20600 blocks of Golden Triangle Road and stole the tires.”

Both men were arrested and subsequently booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on felony commercial burglary charges. Flores received additional felony charges of carrying a concealed firearm, possession of an unregistered firearm with ammunition and carrying a loaded firearm.

Flores was held in lieu of a $160,000 bail. Gabriel was held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
