Around 12 p.m. Thursday two Santa Clarita Valley deputies made contact with a 47-year-old man in front of Leslie’s Pool Supplies in the 26000 block of Sierra Highway who was believed to have stolen a vehicle.

“When deputies made contact with the suspect, a fight ensued,” said Lt. Leo Bauer of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

After calling for backup and successfully subduing the suspect, both deputies were taken to the hospital for minor injuries, according to Bauer.

The suspect also needed to be transported to a hospital for minor injuries, according to officials.

Once released from the hospital, the suspect is set to be charged with grand theft vehicle and assault on a peace officer with injury.

As of 1:10 p.m. on Thursday, it remains unclear where the initial vehicle theft took place.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
