“The Uber driver picked up a couple of people, but had to stop at a location to (check on) a relative,” said Lt. Rob Hahnlein. “While the two people were sitting in the back of the car, (they said) a security guard came up and told them they couldn’t park there.”

Without waiting for the driver to return, the suspects moved the car.

“One of the guys moved it around the block,” said Hahnlein. “It was found maybe a block or two away.”

The driver, upon returning to where he had left the vehicle, called the sheriff’s department. Deputies arrived and were able to locate the vehicle. Both suspects were apprehended and the vehicle was recovered at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday.

One of the suspects had a warrant out for their arrest, said Hahnlein.

“They were both (arrested) for taking the car unlawfully,” he said, adding that it was unclear if their intention was to steal the car.
