We had (1) Aggravated Assault; (2) Burglaries, 1-Residential/1-Shoplift; (3) Theft from unlocked vehicles; and (1) Auto Theft (Recovered the same day a short time later in the same area).
Considering this was a holiday weekend, a time when we can sometimes see an increase in crime due to hot weather, increased alcohol use and other factors, this was a rather encouraging week.
Other contributing factors in the decrease may be attributed to the hard work of proactive deputies who strive to keep Canyon Country safe and, most importantly, the assistance we receive from the public in crime prevention.
When reporting any type of crime, the more accurate information you can provide regarding suspect/vehicle descriptions, the more likely we are to apprehend him/her. When describing a suspect it is important to list the sex, height/weight, approximate age, and clothing color. If the suspect is in a vehicle, the make, model, color, and license plate number. This is all vital information law enforcement uses in apprehending criminals. Not all incidents are the same and you may not be able to see/remember all details, especially in a tense situation, however every bit of information helps.
