Zero D.U.I. arrests are made at Friday night’s checkpoint.
[view:node_ad=5] Santa Clarita drivers were stopped and screened Friday night as the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department held a D.U.I. sobriety checkpoint on Lyons Avenue.A total of 704 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, where every driver was screened. Three vehicles were pulled out of the line for further testing, but not one arrest was made for a D.U.I. offense.
Four drivers were cited for driving without a valid drivers license, and their vehicles were impounded.
The checkpoint took place between the hours of 7:00 Friday night and 3:00 Saturday morning on Lyons Avenue, west of Avenida Dorena.
Never disclosing where the checkpoints will take place, the DUI checkpoints are part of an ongoing effort by Santa Clarita Sheriff’s deputies to help motivate motorists to never drive while they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
