American Cancer Society needs help to reach goal.
Valencia Acura co-owner Cheri Fleming and local journalist Diana Sevanian painfully share something in common: both women lost their mothers to cancer.
They also share a common dream: to see a day when cancer is eradicated and no other family has to go through the anguish of this horrible disease.
In an effort to bring that day closer, Cheri, 2007 president of the American Cancer Society, Santa Clarita Valley Unit, and Diana, chair of the American Cancer Society's 2007 Daffodil Days fundraising campaign, are asking local residents and businesses to help our area reach its Daffodil Days goal.
“While our recent fundraising efforts (pre-selling the daffodils, which arrive March 12-13) raised close to $30,000, we are still trying to bring in another $7,000 through sponsorships and “Gifts of Hope” to help reach our region-wide goal,” Diana Sevanian stated.
Dollars raised support the American Cancer Society’s groundbreaking research, provide up-to-date cancer information and education, advocate for public policies that benefit the community and provide services that improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
While the minimum sponsorship category is $500, donations for Gifts of Hope are also greatly appreciated. (Gifts of Hope enable the ACS to carry on its mission and anonymously provide free daffodils to cancer patients at medical/treatment centers throughout our valley – minimum amount for Gifts of Hope are $25 each), Sevanian explained.
“We are deeply thankful for donations toward this very important American Cancer Society goal,” Cheri Fleming said. “Every dollar bring us one step closer to finding a cure for cancer, and until that day arrives we must do all we can to fight this disease and improve the lives of those who suffer from it.”
Donations are being accepted through Friday. If you would like to donate please leave a message for Diana Sevanian through KHTS at 298-1220 or e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
