Dr. Judea Pearl highlights event at Congregation Beth Shalom.
On Saturday February 2nd, Dr. Judea Pearl will be speaking at Congregation Beth Shalom about the ideological war on terror, being Jewish in a post 9/11 era, and the exploration of common ground between Jews, Christians and Muslims.
Dr. Pearl’s son, Daniel was brought into the international spotlight when he was abducted and murdered by Islamic extremists while covering a story for the Wall Street Journal in Pakistan. Dr. Pearl will be speaking almost exactly six years to the day after his son was murdered.
The Daniel Pearl Foundation is headed by Dr. Pearl, and it sponsors journalism fellowships aimed at “promoting honest reporting and East-West understanding, organizing worldwide concerts that promote inter-cultural respect, and sponsoring public dialogues between Jews and Muslims to explore common ground and air grievances.”
Two seating packages are available for the event. The first is a Santa Clarita Patron package, which, for a price of $120, will offer premium seating, a wine and cheese pre-show attended by Dr. Pearl, and an autographed copy of his book, titled I am Jewish: Personal Reflections Inspired by the Last Words of Daniel Pearl.
General reserved seating is available for $50.
A portion of ticket proceeds will go to benefit Congregation Beth Shalom’s Religious School Special Education Program.
