Day Fire Threatens Residents in Lockwood Valley, Lake of the Woods, Frazier Park

At approximately 2:50pm, a spot fire from the Day Fire jumped Lockwood Valley Road on the north side in the area of Grade Valley Road.
 

It is approximately 600 acres in size and is northwest of Santa Clarita in Ventura County.  Winds have turned and are now out of the west at 20 mph. The fire is moving towards the Frazier Park area. Fire personnel and air resources are on-scene and structure protection is in place.
 
The Evacuation Center at Frazier Park has been moved to:
Frazier Mountain High School
700 Falcon Way
Lebec

Recommended and Precautionary Evacuations have been updated as follows:
 
Precautionary Evacuations –
Advance measures to prevent harm and secure belongings should be taken because fire has been seen in the immediate area
 
     * Along Lockwood Valley Road from Highway 33 to mile marker 17 and for the communities of Pinion Pines and Lake of the Woods
     * Frazier Park
 
Recommended Evacuations –
The fire has advanced and now poses eminent danger
 
     * Lockwood Valley between mile marker 17 and the Ventura/Kern County line, south of Lake of the Woods
     * Pinion Pines
     * Pine Mountain Club
     * Lake of the Woods
 
Fire officials are confident that fire lines will hold in the Southwest area of the fire. More than 3,500 fire personnel are on-scene.  Cost of the Day Fire is now more than $41 million.
