Deadline Nearing For Zonta Scholarship Applications

Young women sought for Women In Business scholarship.

The April 14 deadline is approaching for young women who are interested in pursuing a career in business to apply for the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business scholarship offered by Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley Foundation.

The local winner receives $1,000 and the chance to advance to competition at the district and international levels.

The scholarship is offered to encourage women to enter careers and to seek leadership positions in business-related fields in their communities and throughout the world.  Applicants must be eligible to enter the third or fourth year of an undergraduate degree program at an accredited university, college or institute.

The scholarship was established from a bequest by Jane M. Klausman, a member of the Zonta Club of Syracuse, NY, who was a successful business woman, professional secretary, parliamentarian and entrepreneur.

The winner at the local club level will receive $1,000 at the Zonta Club of SCV May business meeting.  Her application will then be forwarded to District 9 for judging at the district level. The winner at the district level will be forwarded to Zonta International to compete for one of six $5,000 awards.

Applications have been distributed to Southern California universities, colleges and community colleges.  The application deadline is Monday, April 14.  Further information or applications can be obtained by calling Barbara Stearns-Cochran at (661) 251-1352.
