Over summer, the National Park Service initiated a “special resource study” of the Rim of the Valley Corridor surrounding five valleys in the Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.
The study’s purpose is to determine whether any portion of the Rim of the Valley Corridor is eligible to be designated as a unit of the national park system or added to an existing national park. The study will also explore other ways that private or governmental entities can protect resources and provide more outdoor recreation opportunities.
The deadline for the public to submit comments, thoughts, and ideas on the Rim of the Valley corridor area is October 29. Once the comments have been received and reviewed, a summary report will be prepared and distributed.
