Death Threats Put Valencia Resident Behind Bars

khts_crime_genericA 47-year old man is behind bars after making verbal threats to police officers.

Lt. Mark Hershey told KHTS that Vahe Ohanian came into the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s station on Feb. 24 around 11 p.m. and complained to the desk officers about the posting of pictures in the lobby, specifically those of city council members.

Declaring himself to have diplomatic immunity, he began making threatening remarks to the counter deputies and told them he would be coming back with a shotgun.

Ohanian was escorted out of the station by Sgt. Rich Nagler, who became the subject of threatening comments on a social media page allegedly belonging to Ohanian.

The next day, Ohanian went to the California Highway Patrol office on The Old Road and started out telling officers he was a sovereign citizen before saying that he was giving the sheriff’s department five day notice to vacate the station on Magic Mountain Parkway. He was asked to leave and departed without further incident.

Hershey said that detectives found other remarks on the social media page where Ohanian said his life was meaningless and that he was going to come back and hurt Nagler. Deputies set up surveillance at Ohanian’s Del Monte Drive apartment complex and Tuesday morning, arrested Ohanian when he left his home for a walk.

Two guns registered to Ohanian were confiscated at the residence.

On the basis of the death threats and his ability to carry them out, Ohanian was booked at Santa Clarita Valley station, where he is being held in lieu of $320,000 bail.
