Detectives working the area of Camp Plenty and Fairweather in Canyon Country conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on Friday. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle told deputies his driver’s license was suspended.
During his arrest for driving on a suspended license, detectives found four baggies of methamphetamine and other evidence of drug sales in the car.
After arresting Byron Rousil, 28, of Canyon Country, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sales, the detectives wrote and served a search warrant on his home. During the search detectives found another baggie of methamphetamine and a loaded gun.

Further investigation showed that Rousil is a felon, adding the potential charge of felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. During booking it was discovered that Rousil is an illegal immigrant who had been previously deported from the United States. He is being detained on a no-bail Immigration Customs Enforcement hold and faces possible federal charges for illegal entry into the United States.
