Detectives from the Santa Clarita Valley station spent the morning checking up on convicted sex offenders, making sure they were where they were supposed to be and taking action when they weren’t.
The sweep, which started early in the morning and concluded midday, resulted in one arrest for child pornography.
According to Lt. Steve Low, 125 locations were checked. All were within the Santa Clarita city limits.
Forty-three personnel participated in the sweep, which involved checking addresses, visiting with the offenders and verifying information on file with sources such as Megan’s List and Department of Corrections, Probation and Parole.
Of the registrants visited, deputies found five out of compliance, having moved without updating their new addresses.
Low said that the child pornography investigation will likely be turned over to federal authorities, since it involved the Internet.
