Deputies Come Up Empty In Search For Suspect In Canyon Country

Police activity shuts dowm roads near Via Princessa.

Sheriff's deputies tried to locate an assault suspect in an apartment building at Oak Canyon and Jason Drive in Canyon Country at about 4:40 p.m. Wednesday evening.

After setting up an extended containment of the area, the search concluded without finding the person of interest.

Sgt. Tom Jensen, the watch commander at the Santa Clarita station told KHTS that earlier this afternoon, the suspect allegedly pistol-whipped a woman.

The woman escaped, flagging down a CHP officer for help. Sheriff's deputies then surrounded the apartment on Oak Canyon Road.

By 7:00 p.m. the containment was broken down, and normal traffic patterns resumed.
