Deputies Investigate Senior Prank At Golden Valley High

khts_crime_genericSchool Resource Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are investigating an incident of vandalism which occurred on the campus of Golden Valley High School on Thursday morning, May 6.

School officials alerted an on campus deputy to a threatening message written on a bathroom wall. Deputies launched an investigation and additional resources were immediately brought into the school.

Deputies continued their investigation throughout the weekend and determined there was no immediate threat to the safety of the students. Text messages obtained by deputies indicate that the message may have been written as an extremely misguided hoax, with one message referring to it as a “senior prank.”

The person who wrote the message has not yet been identified, but deputies are speaking with several students who may have information or knowledge of the incident. Those responsible could face serious criminal charges, as well as, suspension or expulsion from school.

Golden Valley High School officials notified parents through the activation of their phone message system on Saturday.

Additional deputies are on campus today and the investigation is continuing. Sheriff and school officials will continue to work closely together throughout the investigation. It is the intent of all involved to maintain the safest educational environment possible for all our students.

Anyone with specific information about this crime is asked to immediately contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121.

School related questions can be directed to the William S. Hart Union High School District Superintendent Jaime Castellanos at (661) 259-0033 extension 201.
