Descanso Gardens Reopen; Others Remain Closed Due To Wind Damage

County of Los Angeles’ Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge reopened to the public today in a limited capacity after being closed due to severe damage from the recent windstorm. County of Los Angeles’ Arcadia County Park and the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden remain closed until further notice to enable a comprehensive and strategic cleanup response to the severe damage to countless trees, plants and certain structures.

The Camellia Forest, Oak Forest, California Native Garden, Promenade and Center Circle are all open at Descanso Gardens, located at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Canada Flintridge. The Gift Store is open. The Rose Garden is closed to the public, the Boddy House and Sturt Haaga Gallery are closed to the public. There is no train or tram service and streams and waterfalls are not operational. The Café is open for beverages only. Descanso Gardens limited access and hours through Tuesday, Dec. 6, are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

County of Los Angeles Department of Parks (DPR) and Recreation and Department of Public Works (DPW) tree crews are hard at work and will continue to be throughout the weekend at Arcadia County Park and Santa Anita Golf Course, which is open for golf play.

On Monday, DPR and DPW tree crews will begin focusing efforts at extensive and comprehensive clean up at Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden and continue clean up at Descanso Gardens.
