Detectives Looking For Clues In Alleged Gang Shooting

Detectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station’s COBRA team are investigating a shooting that took place Thursday evening near Newhall Avenue and Valle Del Oro in Newhall.

A call was put in to deputies at 7:20 p.m. after a witness reported hearing 10-15 gunshots. Upon arrival, deputies found evidence that a shooting took place, however they were unable to find any suspects or victims.

Sheriff’s COBRA Detectives, who investigate gang violence, were called to the scene to open an investigation. They were able to discover information that led them to a hospital outside of the Santa Clarita Valley. At the hospital they found a 19 year-old man being treated for what appeared to be a gunshot would. He is described as a “person of interest” by Sheriff’s officials.

Shortly thereafter, Detectives served a search warrant at an apartment in the 27000 block of Via Canon, which is houses apartments off of Valle Del Oro, however it is unknown what, if anything was found pertaining to the case.

Sheriff COBRA detectives believe that the shooting was gang related. Now they are calling on the public to help provide additional information that will aid in solving this case.
