Detectives Looking For Teens Making Homemade Bombs

Makeshift explosives are being used to destroy mailboxes

ImageSanta Clarita Sheriff’s officials have announced that the hunt is on for two male teenagers who they believe to be responsible for planting Plastic Bottle Bombs in five Saugus mailboxes.

Mailboxes in front of homes on Pamplico Drive, Garza Drive, Los Rogues Road, Santa Clarita Road and Canterwood Drive in Saugus were destroyed by these bombs.

Residents reported finding a plastic water bottle with white powder residue inside or near their mailboxes after the incidents.

Detectives are looking for two white males between the ages of 16 and 17, who are said to be driving a white, late nineties model Honda Civic. The car has a distinguishing pink Hawaiian flower sticker over the brake light on the back window.

A major concern is the injury that could befall a person, should they be in the vicinity of the bomb when it goes off. The crime is a felony and if found and convicted, the suspects could face four years in jail.

The Santa Clarita Sheriff’s department is urging residents to keep an eye out for suspicious activity in their area. If they see something they should call the Sheriff’s station at 255-1121 immediately and report it.

If you have any tips or leads in this particular case, you can phone the Sheriff’s tip line at 661-284-2TIP.
