“Detectives are working on active investigations on both incidents,” said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “Detectives are not sure if the two incidents are related.”

Two male blacks, both between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, weighing between 160-180 pounds, walked into a gas station at the 23500 block of Newhall Avenue at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dubin said.

“One had a small revolver-style gun and asked the clerk to open the register,” Dubin said.

About a week earlier, deputies received a report of a similar crime at 23900 Lyons Avenue at 10:40 p.m., Dubin said.

The two gas stations are slightly less than three miles away from each other.

During the second incident, the suspects wore ski masks as a disguise before ordering the store clerk around the gas station and then emptying the cash register.

There’s no indication at this time whether the suspects could be identified by video, according to initial reports, Dubin said.

In the second incident, the suspects wore ski masks, but it was not reported if the suspects were able to be identified in the second

In that crime, a witness was able to spot a getaway driver, so there is a third suspect, Dubin said.

The crime is being investigated by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Detective Bureau, Dubin said.
Anyone who may have information about the crime is asked to call the Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121 or contact Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by texting to CRIMES (274637) or online.
