Among the many topics covered at the Hart District Board Meeting last night, Rancho Pico Jr. High Principal Dave LeBarron was chosen to be the Director of Curriculum.  The director will oversee all the Hart District Jr. Highs and High Schools curriculums, and LeBarron will take his position come October.

That leaves an empty seat at Rancho Pico, which, the Board says, will be filled soon.

Also during the meeting, four new Measure V oversight committee members were chosen to supervise the improvements made to the District’s schools. Measure V was the primary reason Saugus High was able to afford their extensive construction.

Yet, during the construction, the softball field was torn up, leaving the girls’ softball team without an area to practice.  The Board discussed this problem, and announced that by November, the team will have a brand new field.

The improvements in progress at other local schools include: new gymnasiums at Golden Valley and Rancho Pico, and the opening of ROTC at Valencia High School.

The Board also appointed construction management firms to the upcoming renovations on several local schools.
