Cleveland Indians infielder Jamey Carroll has reportedly agreed to terms with the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to MLB.com. Carroll is expected to serve in a backup role, mainly at second base.
Last year’s second baseman Orlando Hudson and his backup Ronnie Belliard are both free agents this year. It is not clear how Carroll’s role as a backup might change if the team doesn’t resign Hudson or Belliard, but he may also have to compete with young Blake Dewitt, who has bounced back and forth between the minor and major leagues.
