Canines rescued from abusive situation need some human helpers for walks, grooming.
The rescue group A Wish For Animals wants you to take a walk on the canine side and volunteer at their Acton ranch.
More than 80 dogs, most of them rescued from an abusive situation in Lancaster, are in need of people to walk them and help maintain the kennels built on the ranch for dogs waiting for their “forever homes.”
Breeds available for adoption include adult pit bull, shepherd and mastiff mixes, border collies and a variety of mixed-breed puppies.
Steve Spiro of A Wish For Animals said that his group worked with county Animal Control officials to close the Lancaster site, where 200 dogs had been kept in cages without food or water. A large portion of those dogs are receiving veterinary care as well as being spayed or neutered before they will be adopted out.
