More than 100 Santa Clarita Valley families will receive a free full Thanksgiving meal this year, thanks to the efforts of the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley, KHTS AM-1220, Paul Davis Emergency Services of Valencia, MIS Sciences and Westfield Valencia Town Center. They are asking for the community’s help to make it happen.

On Tuesday, Nov. 25, families in need who have been invited by Single Mothers Outreach and the Boys and Girls Club will gather at their Sierra Vista Junior High clubhouse for an evening of entertainment and food provided by Salt Creek Grille, and to receive their free basket of Thanksgiving food and supplies.
Jim Ventress, Boys and Girls Club CPO, said this food drive is something they’ve been doing for more than 28 years.
Many more donations are still needed from the community to be able to provide every family with a complete Thanksgiving dinner, according to Joel Moss, co-owner of Paul Davis.
People can bring canned or boxed food and cooking supplies into KHTS’ office on Camp Plenty Road, until Monday, Nov. 25.

Ventress said that he enjoys giving back to these families every year, who otherwise might not be able to afford a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
“People have really appreciated it. You get a lot of hand shakes and hugs,” he said. “You can just read in their eyes that they’re truly appreciative of the fact that people are doing this for them and their families.”
Moss stressed the importance of giving back during the holiday season.
“In a community that has so much, it’s our duty to give back to those who are in need,” he said.
At the Thanksgiving giveaway on Tuesday, there will be an open microphone for parents and children who want to share what they are thankful for.
“All of us have something to be thankful for,” Ventress said, “and it’s now always the new car or the iPhone.”
