Deputy Jeff Maag of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s traffic division said that they went to Kolbo’s apartment but found it empty. After a little detective work, they discovered that Kolbo has a sister in Bakersfield and headed north. They found him at his sister’s apartment and he was taken into custody.

In the accident, Kolbo suffered a broken wrist and broken leg, from which Maag says he is recovering. His passenger, 30-year old Kimberly Cameron, is still suffering from her injuries and may face additional surgery.

“She was just getting a ride,” Maag said.

Kolbo is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in San Fernando Superior Court tomorrow.

The crash was captured on security cameras at the gas station and the video released quickly went viral. For the video link and to read the original story, click here.
