Two people were arrested for driving under the influence Friday night at a
checkpoint run by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on Railroad
Avenue at Oak Ridge Drive.
The checkpoint, which ran from 7 p.m.
Friday through 3 a.m. Saturday, also
resulted in 11 citations being issued and 10 cars being impounded. Eight of the
cars were impounded because the drivers were unlicensed. A total
of 990 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and were
screened.
The goal of the checkpoint was to educate the community on the hazards of
drunk driving while enforcing the D.U.I. laws of the State of California.
The checkpoints are an ongoing attempt to safely remove drunk drivers from
our streets and deter those who may be considering drinking and driving.
