Drivers out and about Friday night may come across a
sobriety checkpoint run by deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley station. The
checkpoint, which will be somewhere in the Santa Clarita Valley, will be
conducted from 7 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday.
The goal of the checkpoint is to educate the community on
the hazards of driving under the influence and attempt to safely remove drunk
drivers from the streets.
The DUI checkpoint program is funded by a grant from the
California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration.
