E-Permiting On the Horizon for City

The City of Santa Clarita has taken its first step towards providing residents and businesses with the ability to manage development permits through the internet.  This week, the City launched “ePermit,” a solution that allows residents to check the status of any permit and the results of an inspection.  It will also allow citizens to look up permit history on any address within the city or request an inspection online any day or time.

"ePermits is consistent with the City’s continuing efforts to enhance the availability of online services to our residents", said Mayor Marsha McLean.

The ability to check the status of permits online represents the first step in the City’s plans to create an online permitting system.

“Ultimately, the City’s goal is to allow residents and contractors to process permits on line and avoid having to make the trip to City Hall" said Darren Hernandez, Administrative Services Director for the City.

Currently, City staff is working on the next phase of their ePermits system that will allow residents to apply for, pay, and process permits on line.

City staff anticipates offering limited online permit services by the summer of 2007.
