Truck accident’s remnants make for ugly a.m. drive.
A two vehicle accident early Tuesday morning had a damaging ripple effect throughout the morning commute.
A freight truck was headed southbound on the I-5 north of Hwy 14 just after 3:30 a.m. when it collided with a GMC truck carrying produce. The accident forced the GMC to skid out of control and sent produce flying across all lanes of the freeway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver and passenger of the GMC received moderate injuries.
By the time the cleanup was finished, the accident had exacted a much more severe toll on morning commuters. At peak travel time, the I-5 was backed up to Rye Canyon Rd. while Hwy 14 saw congestion past Placerita Canyon Rd. Surface streets like Newhall Avenue were also severely impacted.
