Pooling resources is a good way to help Mother Earth and the
city of Santa Clarita is doing just
that on April 18, combining its popular Arbor Day celebration with a festival
celebrating Earth Day.

The Earth Day Festival and 20th Annual Arbor Day Celebration
will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at Central
Park.

A world of ecological interactive zones will be available to
festival participants, including Energy, Eco, Water Conservation, Community,
Children’s and Green Car.

The city will also be celebrating the fact that it has
received the distinguished Tree City USA
award for 18 consecutive years.

 “I am so excited to
see this combination Earth and Arbor Day celebration take place Santa Clarita,”
said Mayor Pro Tem Laurene Weste. “The Festival showcases our beautiful
landscape and open space while reminding the community about the importance of
environmental issues.”

Featured attractions at the Energy Zone include displays by
solar companies, green builders and companies developing alternative home
energy use products. The Eco Zone will display an Eco Footprint Tent where
guests can find out their impact on the earth using an online carbon footprint
test. The Water Conservation Zone will showcase interactive educational
displays emphasizing the importance of water conservation.

The resident-minded Community Zone will include non-profit
and community groups presenting displays, hands-on activities and giveaways for
visitors. At the Children’s Zone, kids and families will experience a number of
interactive activities and can learn about global warming, solar energy, water,
pollution and other environmental issues.

Perhaps one of the most exciting exhibits scheduled for the
event is the Green Car Zone. This Zone will feature the latest vehicles using
hydrogen fuel cells, ethanol, bio-diesel and compressed natural gas, as well as
gas-electric hybrids and electric vehicles.

Central Park is located at 27150
Bouquet Canyon Road. For more information on the
