2 services re-enact Christ’s journey.
This Sunday, Christians celebrate Easter. Pastor Mike Sheridan of the Family Community Church spoke with KHTS regarding the very special Easter service that his church, along with three others, are putting on at Vasquez Rocks.
A full theatrical presentation will follow the trial, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The event is done with authentic costumes, and is full of music and sound which adds to the drama.
“It’s very moving emotionally, and very strong spiritually,” said Pastor Sheridan.
Attendance has steadily grown over the years, and now, 2,500 to 3,000 people attend the services.
Two services will be held; one on Saturday, April 7th at 3:30pm. The other is the sunrise service at 5:00am Sunday.
The service is free to the public, however those wishing to donate may do so.
800 chairs will be set out for the event and are available on a first come first serve basis. Many choose to bring a blanket and simply sit on the rocks.
“Vasquez Rocks, with its setting, immediately transports you to that time and that place,” said Pastor Sheridan.
