Southern California Edison is reporting two separate outages Friday that are affecting more than 1,700 electrical customers in Newhall and Valencia.
The larger outage is in Newhall, where 1,606 customers are affected. It started at 7:15 p.m. Edison officials are aware of the problem but didn’t immediately know the cause.
The cause of the other outage, in the Granary Square area in Valencia, is known. Edison officials blame it on equipment problems and have notified repair crews. That outage started at 6:24 p.m. and is affecting 127 customers.
The SCVTV Media Center at 14th Street and Railroad Avenue is affected by the outage, as is much of the neighborhood. However, the Old Town Newhall Library is on, and Lyons Avenue appears to be unaffected.
Edison officials say they expect power to be restored by 9:30 p.m.
