In filings for the most recent quarter, only 2.69 percent of direct donations to Katie Hill came from inside our local district. These numbers do not include the additional monies being pumped in by the Democratic national and state political action groups, totaling somewhere between $4 million to $5 million, nor does it include the reported $4.8 million donated by former New York Mayor, Michael Bloomberg’s PAC.

Why would a former New York Mayor donate that much money for a Congressional race on the other side of the continent?

What commitments and promises has Katie Hill made in exchange for that donation?

What about the remaining majority of her donations? Will Katie Hill have Santa Clarita’s best interest in mind, or will she be beholden to her financial investors?

These are important questions to consider before you go out to vote on November 6th.

OPINION: Why Would A Former New York Mayor Donate $4.8 Million To Our Local Congressional Candidate, Katie Hill?

  1. The Democratic party has been recruiting and paying for any candidate that will run for them, regardless of their qualifications to be in office. It is a sad state we are in because they have all the money to back them and mold them the way they want. We can only hope that the voters educate themselves instead of listening to all the ads.

  2. Perhaps he is helping out because most of us regular folk and seniors don’t have deep pockets. I voted for Katie Hill because I am a senior citizen counting on social security, medicare and cannot stand to lose coverage for pre existing conditions. These among other things, such as Steve Knight voting to give the rich tax breaks and raise the national deficit.

  3. Let’s answer your question with a question. Why would the Kotch brothers put in millions for the Republican Party? Let’s get real. Mitch McConnel just had an interview where he said in January February they will be dealing with Medicare, Medicaid, & Social security. Why on earth would they care about those. Congress isn’t on it! Privatize it and theycangove more money to big business , tax breaks for the wealthy & screw we the people. Knight supports all these cuts!

  4. Can you provide free filings you speak of? And furthermore donations coming from anywhere in the US for any election, is now fair game. Maybe we need someone from the outside to lead us and represent us, GOD know it hasn’t been working.
So, please provide your facts, otherwise it’s just FAKE NEWS

  5. “Pay for Play”

  6. Why would Steve Knight fail to do his due diligence and have a racist and anti-Semite speak on national TV ads for him? Riddle me that. VOTE

  7. The reason for these large contributions is Citizens United, a suit the Republicans wholeheartedly endorsed and have been taking advantage of for years. Do you really think Knight and McKeon before him haven’t gotten similar donations? You should be asking the same question of all candidates. This is just a partisan hit piece as far as I’m concerned.

  8. Let’s agree that the money needed to run for congress is ridiculous. But don’t insult us with the “why , why , why”
Outside money by the republicans has bought so many races you have no right to complain when funding comes from the other side. For the record , I donated $150 to Katie and I’m just looking for honest, caring leadership which Knights/Trump cannot provide.
