William S. Hart Union High School District students who made the grades, so to speak, were invited for a chance to win a Honda Fit provided by AutoNation.

Over 6,000 students qualified for the contest but AOC sophomore Dhivya Vadapalli won the car out of the 11 names that stepped onto the track of Canyon High School for the drawing.
“We have heard from school site administrators that the excitement for this car giveaway on their campuses is huge,” said Dave Caldwell in a press release. “Also, we have heard from parents who have said their child knew he/she had to do better in school in order to qualify, and they did.”
Vadapalli was participating in a play at AOC’s open house, therefore had her father there to receive the keys, not knowing the surprise awaiting at the end of the night.
To qualify for the competition, each youth student to have at least a 3.5 GPA, or raise their grade point average three-tenths of a point from the first quarter of the school year.
AutoNation donated the car to the WiSH Education Foundation, the non-profit organization that raises funds for the William S. Hart Union High School District to cover the gap between state funding and classroom needs at each of the district’s schools.
What is AOC? Not all of us are up on this acronym.
