The district’s special education preschool classroom–housed at Castaic Middle School–was trashed sometime between Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and Monday at 8 a.m., said Sgt. Ron Price with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The suspect(s) discharged a fire extinguisher in the classroom, smeared food on the floors and walls, stuffed diapers in the toilets and sinks and drew on computer monitors, said District Spokeswoman Lisa Bloom.
The suspect(s) also “piled some book up by the building and tried to set them on fire,” Price said.
The incident is similar to a case of vandalism at Castaic Elementary School between Dec. 23 and 29, when the suspect(s) vandalized the school’s music classroom with a fire extinguisher and floor stripper.

As of 12:15 p.m. Monday, no information was available about the cost of the damage.
Between Jan. 10 and 13, the tires were removed from five buses in the district bus yard, interrupting service on the morning of Monday, Jan. 13–the second case of vandalism/crime to hit the district in recent weeks.
