The 2014 summer session features more than 650 sections of high-demand “core” classes in a wide range of academic subjects in an effort to help students achieve their educational goals, school officials said.
“Students asked for more options this summer, and we’re delivering in a big way,” said Jerry Buckley, assistant superintendent and vice president of instruction at COC. “With classes available at Valencia and Canyon Country, and online, there’s no better time to pick up a class needed to transfer or learn a new skill.”

This year’s schedule represents an approximately 14 percent increase from last summer.
The majority of class sections being offered are courses most students need to either graduate, transfer to a four-year school and/or meet prerequisites. In addition, numerous elective and exploratory courses have also been included in the schedule in an effort to help students determine their desired educational or career track, school officials said.
The college’s first five-week summer session consists of online classes only and is scheduled from June 9 to July 5.
The second summer session begins June 16 and includes six, eight and 10-week course options.
Registration begins Wednesday for continuing students, with returning student registration beginning May 19.
Enrollment fees at all 112 California community colleges will remain at $46 per unit as mandated by the state of California, school officials said.
