The First-Year Promise program allows students to attend their first year at College of the Canyons for free, according to officials.

“The First-Year Promise program provides qualified students the amazing opportunity to attend college for free — waiving all tuition and fees for their first year,” reads a statement on the school’s website.

In addition to this financial support, each student in the program is provided other benefits, including weekly contact with academic counselors, help with career exploration, and access to faculty advisors, according to school officials.

The College of the Canyons Foundation established a goal of funding 500 students by the end of the year, and have 87 to go, according to an email sent out Thursday morning.

While there are various levels that a person can donate to help, every $1,000 pays for a year’s worth of tuition at College of the Canyons, meaning that the foundation needs to raise $87,000 if they want to reach their goal.

  1. I wish someone would ask the COC Foundation to pay for the replacement of carpet in the PAC rather than use Measure E bond money. Are we allowed to do that?
