Four members of the College of the Canyons men’s golf program have turned in their final score cards for the Cougars, as three student-athletes from this year’s team will move on to four-year collegiate programs, while one begins a professional career.

Matt Murray, Sam Sloman and Edoard Fiszel will transfer to San Jose State University, the University of Miami and Menlo College, respectively, for the upcoming fall semester. Eric Kim will turn pro and begin qualifying for the Asian Tour.

“I’m very proud of all those earning scholarships and moving on to compete at the next level. I will miss their hard work and dedication to the college and the golf program,” head coach Gary Peterson said. “I wish them all the best.”

Kim, Murray and Sloman were all members of the squads that played in and won the program’s 21st Western State Conference (WSC) Championship, its fourth CCCAA Southern California Men’s Regional Championship and its seventh CCCAA Men’s Golf State Championship in school history — all under head coach Gary Peterson.

Kim, a sophomore from Alemany High School, was named WSC Golfer of the Year in 2015 after taking a year off from competition. He averaged a conference-best 71.1 strokes per 18-holes this season.

Kim also carded back-to-back team low scores of 69 in the WSC Championship, missing he individual title by one stroke. As a freshman he was also named a 2013 All-Southern California selection.

Murray, who will transfer to Division I San Jose State University, is a freshman from Myerscough, United Kingdom. Murray shot a team-best 71 in the opening round of the state championship tourney on the way to the title. Murray finished third on the team and 15th overall in the state tournament.

Fiszel, who will play for the NAIA affiliated program Menlo College, is a sophomore from Saint Marie, France. During his freshman year, he won the WSC No. 2 tournament at Alisal Ranch and was also member of the Cougars’ 2014 WSC, 2014 Southern California Regional teams. That season the Cougars finished just one stroke away from a state title.

Sloman will transfer to Division I University of Miami (Fla.) next season. Sloman, who began his collegiate career at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa, enjoyed a brilliant second half of the 2015 season.

The sophomore finished second on the team during the Southern California Regional Championship after posting a team-best first round score of 68. He went on to finish in 10th place overall at the 2015 state tournament with a combined score of 145.
